Literary Response to Charles

Abdue Monroe Jr.
Literary Response to Charles

"Charles' is a story about a boy named Laurie that keeps telling his parents about a boy named Charles and all the bad things he does but the teacher says there is no Charles. Laurie says that he, Charles, was being fresh, hit a teacher, her friend and a little girl, made people say bad words and always got in trouble. Everyday Laurie comes home with a new story about Charles did and his consequences. His parents want to see Charles' mother but when they go to the P.T.C the teacher says there is no Charles in her class.

Laurie seems like a nice kid that wouldn't lie to his parents. He seems older than what he actually is. He just started kindergarten. He could be just joking around about Charles but he uses an extremely high amount of detail. I would find it very hard to use that much detail in a lie. It couldv'e been his imaginary friend. He's perceived to be a trustworthy person all through the book but at the end he's very suspicious.
